Home Buyer Initiative
The Real Housing for Growth Plan’s home buyer initiative provides eligible Territorians with the opportunity to purchase properties made available throughout the Northern Territory.
The properties offered for sale through this initiative are generally either refurbished or pre-constructed homes; or house and land packages.
To be approved as an eligible purchaser, you must meet specific criteria and submit an application before making your purchase.

How do I apply?
Step 1 – Arrange finance
You will need to obtain ‘in principle’ home loan approval in writing.
Step 2 – Check your eligibility
To be eligible you must:
- be a natural person (not a trust or company), 18 years of age or over
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- not currently own another property or share in a property in Australia (this also applies to your spouse/defacto partner)
- have a satisfactory pre-approval letter of finance
- not exceed the maximum income limits
- not currently be a party to a contract of sale for the purchase of any house, land or unit (or combination).
Step 3 – Submit an application
You must submit an application to be approved as an eligible purchaser.
You can start your application now and be ready to purchase as soon as properties are available.

Applications may be submitted by emailing the completed application to [email protected] or make an appointment by phoning (08) 8999 8471.
After your application has been assessed you will receive notification of your eligibility and you will go into the pool of approved applicants.
Step 4 – Purchase a property
The properties available for sale are offered on a first in, first served basis to approved eligible purchasers.
